It’s our 3rd birthday! But we may not make it to a 4th.

We need your help to keep going. At a time when when LGBTQ creators and queer-owned business are–literally–under attack, your support will help us continue to tell these stories for our communities.

It’s our 3rd birthday! But we may not make it to a 4th.

I know that sounds dramatic, but it’s true! We need your help to keep going.

If you've ever been informed, inspired, educated, or delighted by our work, please consider making a financial contribution.

Or you can make a contribution via PayPal or Venmo.

Your support will mean a lot to this Black queer Texan as we celebrate the Juneteenth holiday!

I started Queerency three years ago with the mission of providing possibility models for who queer folks can be in business and beyond. Since then, we've told the stories of hundreds of LGBTQ+ entrepreneurs and queer-owned businesses on Instagram, TikTok, our website, this newsletter, and even Forbes.

At a time when when LGBTQ creators and queer-owned business are–literally–under attack, your support will help us continue to tell these stories for our communities and report on the queer economy with dignity and depth.

In the meantime:

•Stay tuned for Part 2 of the Big Book of Queer Business, dropping later this week!

•Check out Queer to Stay: An LGBTQ+ Business Preservation Initiative below. It's a partnership between the Human Rights Campaign and Showtime offering grants to 25 LGBTQ-owned businesses.

•And congrats to Marketing by Rocio, The Plant Gays, and 989 Creative Group! They all learned about the National Pride Grant for LGBTQIA+ Small Businesses via Queerency, and they're all now semi-finalists!

Thanks in advance for your support,

Trav

Queer to Stay: An LGBTQ+ Business Preservation Initiative

Queer to Stay: An LGBTQ+ Business Preservation Initiative is a collaboration between the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) and SHOWTIME® that will celebrate and support Pride and the LGBTQ+ community by identifying and making significant donations to at least 25 LGBTQ+ serving businesses this year, selected based on the communities they serve and their financial need.

•The Queer to Stay initiative is specifically focused on supporting US-based, for-profit businesses. Nonprofit organizations and international businesses are not eligible for funding through the Queer to Stay initiative.

•Your business should primarily serve/cater to the LGBTQ+ community, including LGBTQ+ Communities of Color, the LGBTQ+ Women's Community, and/or the Transgender and Non-Binary Community.

•Your business must explain how they have been negatively impacted financially due to COVID-19.

•Special consideration will be given to businesses that are owned by members of the communities we are trying to serve through this initiative -- queer people of color, queer women and transgender and non-binary individuals. We will also prioritize funding for businesses that did not receive a donation from the Queer to Stay initiative previously.

Application deadline: August 31, 2023
